DIS is awarded best place to be an intern
DIS has just received an award for providing the best internship in East Jutland, Denmark.
The award ceremony for companies providing internships in East Jutland, Denmark in 2016 has just taken place and DIS (Dansk IngeniørService A/S) was announced as the overall winner. The title is awarded by Studenterhus Aarhus and Aarhus City, where the jury consisting of the Mayor of Aarhus Jacob Bundsgaard and director of Studenterhus Aarhus Anne Thorø Nielsen as well as representatives from East Jutland companies had to find the winner for 2016.
- We had received many qualified applicants and the competition between the companies was fierce, so when we had to determine who was the very best, we had to choose between the ones who offered something extra and who stood out, says Anne Thorø Nielsen, director at Studenterhus Aarhus.
Among other, DIS is celebrated for being diverse and the interns represent a wide set of professional skills, which add to the diversity as well as it strengthens the sense of community in the company.
- Over the past 10 years we have employed interns, where five to ten interns are based at DIS in Aarhus each semester. Our experience is that they add value to us as a company as well as we get the privilege to contribute to their professional and personal development. It is a great motivator for us to be able to shape the future engineers through challenging and technical projects, says Michael Gadeberg, director and partner at DIS.
An internship at DIS is a good stepping stone for a future career in the company, where the interns following the internship often stay on as a student helper and subsequently are offered permanent employment after graduation.
- My internship has formed my career and brought me to where I am today. Already as an intern I was able to influence my tasks and I had responsibilities at the same level as my colleagues. The high professional level and the focus on the latest technology are key and there is always a safety net in the solid and highly professional base of competent colleagues. I am motivated by being a part of an ambitious company where I am able to leave a mark on future solutions, says Poul Overgaard Pedersen, former intern and student helper, now project engineer at DIS.
DIS has a close cooperation with the engineering universities and participates in job fairs and offer company tours as well as they are engaged in the teaching of various fields of studies all over the country.
