In industrial automation, some of the most expensive problems only become visible when equipment is ready for commissioning. Software errors, unexpected system behavior and last-minute adjustments can delay production and increase project costs. But many of these problems can be identified earlier.
Digital Twin technology shifts testing and validation from physical commissioning into engineering and design. By connecting virtual equipment models with automation and control software, engineers can test system behavior before installation.
A CREADIS project for a global consumer goods manufacturer demonstrates the potential. To modify an automated packaging line without disrupting production, CREADIS engineers combined 3D models, electrical specifications and process logic in a Digital Twin environment. This enabled control software testing and system validation ahead of commissioning.

“The real value of Digital Twins is not the visualization itself. It is the ability to identify challenges before they affect production. That allows us to make better engineering decisions earlier, reduce project risk and execute commissioning with much greater confidence,”
