Grundfos is a leading global pump manufacturer and supplier that helps their customers move, treat and manage water.
Founded in 1945, Grundfos has a presence in over 56 countries and employs more than 19,000 people worldwide. Their products and solutions are used in a wide range of applications, including residential, commercial and industrial buildings, water supply, irrigation, industry and mining.
Challenges
Grundfos faced the challenge of developing a new series of pumps that would meet the new energy requirements imposed by the European Union. To do this, they needed to create a new and innovative product that was more energy efficient and environmentally friendly than their existing products. A key component of this new product was the control box for the pumps. Grundfos needed a partner to help them develop this control box so they could meet these new energy requirements.
Solution
Grundfos engaged with consultants from DIS/CREADIS who used 3D modeling, 2D drawings and numerous tests and fatigue analyses, to help develop the new control box. Working closely with the Grundfos development team, DIS/CREADIS engineers were able to create a control box that met the new energy requirements and was more efficient than previous control boxes.
Benefits
The new series of pumps developed with the assistance of DIS/CREADIS engineers are more energy efficient and environmentally friendly, helping Grundfos meet the new energy requirements. In addition, they are more reliable and have a longer lifespan than previous pumps, providing a higher level of performance and reducing the need for maintenance. Finally, Grundfos applied for patents on some of the solutions that were developed with the assistance of DIS/CREADIS’ engineers.
