Design and development of lifting solution facilitates easier handling and installation of windows
VELUX Group is a leading company in the development, production, and sale of roof windows and skylights. VELUX needed to develop a tool for technicians who install their windows in the German market. The VELUX group presented a problem and several requirements which had to be met for the desired tool.
Challenges
Some of the VELUX roof windows are as large as 1340×1600 mm (52.75×63 in), which can be challenging for an installer to handle. VELUX wanted to provide installers with a practical solution that can help and facilitate their work in the handling and installation of roof windows.
Solution
VELUX chose DIS/CREADIS to assist in the development of the tool for technicians. Throughout the project, DIS/CREADIS deployed several different engineering competencies for the development of the new tool. They produced and supplied 3D and 2D drawings, finite element analysis and analytical calculations, prototypes and the finished product. During the creation of the prototype, VELUX contributed significant knowledge from their years of experience manufacturing and installing windows. The final version of the product was accredited with the German CE certification. DIS/CREADIS was responsible for managing the CE certification process and documentation of the product.
