Advalight

Advalight – Revitalizing medical laser technology

Advalight is a Danish company that specializes in the development and manufacturing of medical laser devices.

The company was established as a research project at DTU (Technical University of Denmark) 10 years ago, with a focus on laser sources. Since then, Advalight has grown into a company that produces laser devices for treating skin diseases and skin disorders such as chronic redness, spider veins, scars, moles, and acne. Advalight’s medical laser devices use yellow (589nm) and infrared (1319nm) laser lights, which are more effective in treating skin problems compared to other lasers. Advalight’s laser is built on solids (crystals) instead of on gas or coloring, which makes it less expensive, more reliable, and more stable than other medical yellow lasers on the market.

Challenges

Advalight faced challenges with their mechanical drawings and the construction of a new mechanical element for their laser device. They needed a mechanical engineering consulting resource that could clean up their drawings and create a suspension for the actual laser.

Solution

Advalight turned to DIS/CREADIS for our experience optimizing mechanical parts and materials. Two DIS/CREADIS consultants worked at their office for a month to solve the mechanical problems. DIS/CREADIS provided Advalight with material and mechanical parts expertise as well as their extensive experience in structural calculations and SolidWorks. The consultants updated the product’s various drawings and created a suspension for the laser.

Benefits

The cooperation between Advalight and DIS/CREADIS was a positive experience. Advalight benefited from having two consultants come into their office who could offer a fresh perspective for those at Advalight who had been working on the project throughout the development process. This resulted in new creative solutions. Furthermore, it was enriching to have two consultants from a firm with over 700 engineers, as they had an immense support base of experience and knowledge. The updated mechanical drawings and suspension for the laser device will improve the product’s reliability and stability, making it more effective in treating skin problems.

How we collaborate

>>

DIS/CREADIS specializes in optimizing mechanical parts and materials, which was exactly what Advalight needed for their laser device. DIS/CREADIS have extensive experience in structural calculations and SolidWorks, making them the perfect partner for Advalight’s mechanical problems. Advalight was able to benefit from DIS/CREADIS’ expertise, knowledge, and experience. Every DIS/CREADIS engineer is assisted by DIS/CREADIS’s vast Communities of Practice knowledge sharing system, which ensures that every engineer has access to the necessary experience and knowledge to tackle projects.

We were in desperate need of a mechanical resource that could clean up and give our drawings a qualified remake as well as construct a new mechanical element for the device by creating a suspension of the actual laser,” says Kasper Vikkelsø Seidler, VP Product Engineering at Advalight.
