Comet Yxlon specializes in industrial X-ray products. Manufacturers in the aerospace, automotive, and electronics industries rely on Comet Yxlon to maximize their product quality and the efficiency of their production. Comet Yxlon received an order for a new X-ray system capable of scanning materials based on their molecular structure. This new system required extreme precision and reproducibility to accurately measure different materials.
The development of this new X-ray system posed significant challenges in achieving the required precision and reproducibility for molecular scanning. The molecular signatures of different materials are known, but to accurately define them demands measurements with completely different accuracies. This required the development of a new X-ray system optimized for use with a line detector capable of scanning devices two-meters-wide. The existing measurement chain and data processing for the X-ray system had to be reviewed and improved to ensure accuracy and precision. The challenge was to make the technology work and to achieve the required level of precision.
Comet Yxlon chose DIS/CREADIS as an engineering partner to assist in the development of the new molecular scanning X-ray. DIS/CREADIS provided essential resources in electronics, regulations, software, and prototype management. The development and integration of X-ray control systems, the development of a parametric model for photon energy based on sensor feedback, review and improvement of the existing measurement chain, and data processing for the X-ray system were all completed in close cooperation between Comet Yxlon and DIS/CREADIS. DIS/CREADIS also supported climate testing and PCB development. The existing X-ray system was upgraded on several parameters to achieve vastly improved performance. The result was a new X-ray system capable of accurately scanning materials based on their molecular structure with extreme precision and reproducibility.
DIS/CREADIS was the ideal partner for Comet Yxlon in the development of this new X-ray system. They have extensive expertise and experience in virtual product development and simulation, including Computer Aided Design, Computer Aided Industrial Design, Computer Aided Manufacturing, and Product Lifetime Management.
