CP KELCO - UNLOCKING PRODUCT INNOVATION

CP Kelco, part of the US-based J.M. Huber Corporation, is known for producing nature-based ingredients such as carrageenan and pectin that are used to enhance the texture and consistency of food, personal care, and pharmaceutical products. The company was in the process of developing a new product but encountered a challenge when the project plan required more details. To address this issue, CP Kelco asked DIS/CREADIS for assistance in facilitating a three-day workshop that would help update the project plan and establish a common understanding and overview of the project.

Challenges

The primary challenge faced by CP Kelco was the need to update the project plan for their new product development. The existing plan lacked the details needed for the project to move forward. This issue led to a critical decision to halt the work and refocus on the project plan. The company recognized the need to bring together all participants involved in the project, including engineering, commercial entities, and development teams, to update the project plan and address cross-functional cooperation.

Solution

CP Kelco approached DIS/CREADIS to facilitate a three-day workshop to update the project plan, which involved approximately 25 employees. The workshop aimed to bring together all participants involved in the project to establish a common understanding of the project's status, progress, opportunities, and challenges. The workshop addressed cross-functional cooperation between engineering and commercial entities, the general development of the project, and finally, how to best plan the next phases of the project. DIS/CREADIS's consultant coordinated all the practical issues, allowing CP Kelco’s internal project manager to focus on the project's management.

During the workshop, the team worked together to identify areas for improvement in the plan and establish a clear understanding of the project's progress. The workshop fostered great cooperation between internal and external teams, and this led to an effective update of the plan. This enabled CP Kelco to manage the project successfully and hand it over to the development team for the next steps in the business development process.

Why DIS/CREADIS

CP Kelco recognized the value of partnering with a consulting firm such as DIS/CREADIS to facilitate the workshop and update the project plan. The company appreciated DIS/CREADIS’s understanding of the project and their ability to ask the necessary critical questions to identify areas where the plan could be improved. The workshop was intense, but CP Kelco’s internal project manager could rely on DIS/CREADIS’s consultant to coordinate all the practical issues and ensure smooth running, which enabled her to focus on project management. The partnership with DIS/CREADIS allowed CP Kelco to overcome the challenge of updating the project plan and move forward with the development of their new product successfully.

TIB Molbiol – ACCELERATING COVID-19 TESTING: TIB MOLBIOL TEAMS UP WITH DIS/CREADIS TO DEVELOP AUTOMATED PCR TEST MACHINE WITH RESULTS IN LESS THAN ONE HOUR

Since the outbreak of COVID-19, governments worldwide have invested enormous resources in scaling up their testing capacity. PCR testing is the most reliable test method, but it can take several hours to a few days to deliver test results, leaving a window in which infection may spread. Olfert Landt, CEO of TIB Molbiol, identified the need for a shorter lead time and came up with the idea to develop a continuous PCR test machine. Samples are not moved through the testing process in batches as is normally done, but one by one, reducing the total testing time significantly.

ABENA– ADVANCING INCONTINENCE CARE

ABENA Group, an international manufacturer of healthcare products, has developed a digital incontinence product called ABENA Nova. The product is designed to provide a better quality of life for both incontinence product users and healthcare professionals. The ABENA incontinence diaper is no ordinary diaper. It features sensors and a small clip that transfers data via Bluetooth and 4G networks to the WetSens Monitor app, which is installed on the caregivers’ mobile devices. Caregivers can easily and quickly monitor the diaper’s moisture status and be notified if it needs changing. The product saves resources and minimizes user discomfort. In addition, caregivers can also use the data collected to monitor the users’ fluid levels. However, the innovative product could not be manufactured at the ABENA production facilities, which led the company to seek a skilled engineering consulting partner to assist in completing the necessary upgrades.
